Milestone: Peer Review
A final peer review is conducted at the end of Simple Architecture iterations. The architecture is defined as required by the objectives and Architectural Decisions have been taken and documented.
Main Description

The architectural review done in this context involves ensuring that the architecture addresses the objectives of the IT architecture project, and that it fits in with the enterprise direction in the long-term. Scenarios may be used to test the architecture. If there is a problem in the direction taken by the architecture in terms of the enterprise long-term objectives then management will need to be made aware of and bless this deviation in direction.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Existing architectures have been reviewed and summarized.
  • The Context and Objectives has been defined and met.
  • Agreement on defined Architectural Decisions has been reached.
  • The Simple Models have been defined and agreed.

Main Artifacts:

  • Simple Architecture Models - completed;
  • Architecture Decisions - stable and agreed by all stakeholders;
  • Business Glossary - refined.
Typically a "stakeholder review" is done once this peer review has been completed. See: Phase: Review the Architecture.
