This task publishes Architectural Decisions and notifies all architects, managers and other stakeholders.

Purpose

This task publishes Architectural Decisions (AD) and notifies all architects and other stakeholders. Documenting important architectural decisions and providing a searchable repository of decisions will help guide other architects, managers and implementors in being compliant with enterprise and business domain standards and solutions. They also provide a source of information for re-visiting decisions over time.

Main Description

The purpose of this activity is to publish an Architecture Decision (AD), specifically to:

Move the approved or rejected ADs to a searchable repository;
Notify architects, managers, designers and implementors of the new decision.

A searchable repository, open to all in the enterprise, will make it easy to find decisions of interest, and to validate plans against enterprise (or business line, business domain or project) standards and decisions. Having a notification mechanism aids in communications and compliance.

Steps

Publish the Architectural Decision

The approved or rejected architectural decision is moved to a searchable repository, such as a web page or a records management repository. The repository should be searchable and open to all in the enterprise to ensure that they properly communicated.

Notify All Architects

All architects, and other interested parties such as project managers and other managers or notified of the new decision.
