Purpose
The purpose of this activity
is to update the Logical Perspective architectural views after: the solution to an issue has been defined, a change to the
business has been defined or as a result of the planned introduction of a new technology.
Description
A solution to problem or a change to the business has been defined, or a new technology is to be
introduced that impacts the Logical level IT architecture. This activity updates the Logical Perspective views to
incorporate the required changes. This workflow has the following goals:
Update the Logical Entity Model for the system;
Update the Logical Process Model for the system;
Update the Logical Logistics Model for the system;
These activities are best carried out by a small team staffed by cross-functional members. Issues that are typically
architecturally significant include data, process, locales and roles. The team should also include members with domain
experience and knowledge of existing models and systems and ideally business modelers. The team should also have experience with model organization and
layering.
Usage
Usage Guidance
This activity is mandatory after the definition of a solution to an issue (if it impacts the Logical level), if a
change to the business is defined, or if a new technology is to be introduced (if it impacts the Logical level).
